IT2School is a community of IT volunteers dedicated to inspire kids through technology. Its mission is to teach children aged 7 to 14 about different technologies, helping them turn their ideas into reality and gain skills that will support their future careers.
IT2School, together with America House Odesa, organized a small workshop for the community’s mentors. The idea was to show gratitude by gifting them branded merch, while also creating a fun, interactive activity that brought everyone together.
My responsibilities
I helped with the preparation for this event by creating an illustration that could be reused as a print for tote bags and T-shirts. Additionally, I prepared logos and other assets in the right formats for printing.
Printing Process
At the beginning, it was important to prepare the assets on the canvas and set the correct dimensions for printing. The chosen illustration was then printed on special transfer paper in the desired colors.
Once everything was ready, the design was transferred onto the fabric using a heat press machine at a high temperature. After this, the clothes were ready with the final print.
Some learnings
For this type of printing, it’s very important to choose soft, natural textiles so the print transfers properly. I brought my own tote bag made from very thick fabric, and because of that, the design was not attached as expected. After a long time — and some extra effort with an iron at home — I finally managed to make the print! It was a bit stressful, but a good reminder that sometimes creative ideas require extra effort.
Insights
It was a truly unique and memorable experience in my life. I especially enjoyed helping others experiment with the creative process and seeing my illustration come to life in different variations. 🤩
